Conference North - the story so far
home Conf N Main Conference South National Conference contact

Conference North 2005-2009 is covered here.  It's mainly Final Tables from the last four seasons, but there's a bit of a moan as well.  Some say it's good for the soul ... if so, I'm waiting for the benefits to kick in.  Anyway this is how things ended up:

*Lancaster City and Scarborough deducted 10 points for entering administration.  This seemed particularly hard on Scarborough as they seem to have been relegated from Conference National in 2006 for the same offence.  Add to this the withholding of money from the club by the Conference and a transfer embargo during the season and there appeared much for the club to be aggrieved about.

Droylsden and Farsley Celtic (via the play-offs) joined the Conference National.  Lancaster City dropped two levels in the Pyramid, while Scarborough and Worksop Town were demoted one level to the Northern Premier League Premier Division.

For Boro, however, troubles were not over for, despite there being an apparently workable solution to the club’s ongoing financial troubles and in spite of the fact that a representative of the local council seemed to have approved the club’s plans, a meeting of the Borough Council, at which the representative mentioned before is said not to have been present, refused to sanction what was in effect a relocation and rescue plan for the football club.  As a direct consequence of this, crippled by debts, Scarborough F.C. was wound up on June 20th, 2007, in the High Court in Leeds, bringing the curtain down on the club’s 128-year history.
